Frolicon ‘09 is the ticket

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I’m fresh off of the high in Atlanta known as Frolicon. If you haven’t attended, I have to ask why not? You’re missing a buffet of talent, fun, games, and an utter feast of delight.

The party started on Thursday– I unfortunately arrived late and was only able to attend some late night private parties. It was obvious that the fun was in full swing every where. I was in several hallways and all you could hear was laughter. It’s a great way to start. I was able to see Lord Sunshine officially get his vest and several other must have pieces. There were several other highlights of the evening but privacy forbids further discussion other than to say I met Lady Mullet from afar. :)

The classes were especially fabulous for me. I was able to see my children teach this weekend. It was a luxury to sit and hear them. My daughter gave a class on Caning. She delivered it with detail, finesse and created subtly with her hands. I was so proud that I cried for a few moments before I collected myself. I didn’t want her to see my tears and think for a moment that I was disappointed. I wasn’t— I was so pleased.

My son tackled an extremely difficult subject BDSM and sexual ecstacticism. It was an excellent class that illuminated historical roots, current application, various off-shoots of theory, and the discussion was intelligent and lively. Throughout he kept the discussion on topic while adding information, inviting extremist viewpoints without sacraficing the more pedestrian and needed aspects to cover the subject thoroughly. I was very happily impressed and felt I walked away with some valuable reminders regarding my own spirituality.

So– I’m proud as hell of both of you. You rocked my world in your classes. Please feel free to fight over my class material when I die (laughing as I am sure you’ll both give classes your own way long before and after I die).

I gave three classes at Frolicon and one of the them was a double period. I had a great time and was very well received. I had thoughtful people who added a lot to my presentations and I completely enjoyed connecting with new friends and folks I have the pleasure to already know.

Did I mention games??? HA– several of us went to the Newly Wed Game and played along in the audience. We had a great time!!! It was fun and according to our score, nic and alex would have won by 5 points! (nic and I came in 10 points behind the winners) It was all such a good good time!

Did I mention that I proudly carried a gift bag from NC with me? It says, “Trust me. I am Jedi.” It was perfect and finally people understood what my family refuses to acknowledge. :)

What else did I learn? Apparently that the answer is ………. 42.

If you haven’t headed out to Frolicon– don’t miss next year. It’s the first weekend in April. My calendar is marked, is yours?
